Philip Fisher - Singing Shearer
“ I've Never Slummed a Pen! ”

Me shearing a Ouessant ewe
Welcome to SingingShearer.co.uk
ATTENTION - event organisers! I am now available for shearing demonstrations at your event. Machine or blade shearing displays available. Contact me for details.
I am a sheep shearer based in South Yorkshire, close to the motorway network and am willing travel anywhere within reason. I currently have jobs in Yorkshire, Lancashire, cumbria, County Durham, Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Cheshire, Staffordshire, Shropshire, Warwickshire, Leicestershire, Gloucestershire, Herefordshire, Essex and Oxfordshire. I alo shear in Dumfriesshire, Scotland.
As long as my travel costs are covered I am prepared to travel to most areas of England, Scotland and Wales, please contact me to see if I will be coming to your area.
I can shear flocks of any size but specialise in small pet flocks and medium sized flocks. I can arrange to recruit other shearers to help me shear larger flocks.
I'm willing to take on the more difficult jobs that other shearers tend to shy away from, ie. very large or very small sheep or places where there are just one or two sheep. I am happy to shear anything from the smallest breeds such as Ouessant, up to the biggest such as Lincoln Longwool.
I have experience shearing a variety of breeds, including: Balwen, Beltex, Black Welsh Mountain, Boreray, Castlemilk Moorit, Charollais, Cotswold, Dorset, Gotland, Herdwick, Hebridean, Jacobs, Kerry Hill, Leicester Longwool, Lincoln Longwool, Lleyn, Lonk, Manx Loughtan, Masham, Mule, Norfolk Horn, North Ronaldsay, Ouessant, Oxford Down, Rouge de l'Ouest, Shetland, Shropshire, Soay, Southdown, Suffolk, Swaledale, Texel, Wensleydale, White Faced Woodland, Zwartbles and a variety of crossbreeds. I can also shear Angora goats.
As the Australian song goes “ I've never slummed a pen, me lads - whatever it might contain”
My aim is to do a clean job, taking off the fleece with the minimum of double cut in the wool and causing as little stress to the animal as I possibly can.
As I am also a handspinner I try to remove the fleece to a
standard that I would be happy to use myself.
I can set up almost anywhere, under cover or in a building is preferred but I can set up and work in the field if required.
I will always try to give priority to cases where shearing is needed on welfare grounds, eg. flystrike etc.
My other services include: Dagging - Belly Crutching - Winter Shearing - Shearing prior to housing: special care taken when shearing in-lamb ewes - Belly wool removing prior to slaughter. Demonstration Shearing for special events, shows, fairs, open days etc.
